1) What is a "Wanted"?

A Wanted is the opposite of the standard auction that most people understand, it is sometimes called a "Reverse Auction". Simply put, you start a Wanted stating what you want to purchase and how much you are willing to pay for it. Then sellers will bid for your business, with the lowest bid or "offer to sell" being the winner. After the Wanted finishes by running out of time or the buyer closing the Wanted early then the sale can be made in a similar fashion to a normal aution transaction.

2) Is it the same as an auction?

No, it is not the same as an auction. In an auction you bid on something you want to buy. With a Wanted, it is the person that wants to sell who makes the bid or "offer to sell" as we call it on eBid.

3) What Access Level do I need to be to start a Wanted?

Unlike auctions on eBid that require Seller or Gold access, you can create and start a Wanted as long as you have at least Buyer access.

4) Can people bid on a wanted?

With wanteds, bids are know as "offers to sell". They are not made by the person wanting to buy, but by the person wanting to sell, the person who already has the item.

5) How much does it cost to start a wanted?

It costs nothing to start a standard Wanted listing

6) How can I make an offer to sell on a wanted?

If you see a wanted for which you have the specific item to sell you can place an "offer to sell". This can be done by following the instructions on the specific Wanted details page.

You will need to enter a description and a price at which you are willing to sell. Please ensure you read and can fulfill all the postage and payment requirements that the Wanter specifies within their advertisement. If your offer is chosen as the winning offer at the end of the time period or when the Wanter closes it early, you will be emailed with their details to enable you to finish the transaction.

7) What happens when the wanted finishes?

When the wanted runs out of time OR when the Wanter closes the wanted early full details will be sent to the winning Offeror and to the Wanter with each others details. Non-winning offerors will also be emailed with details.

The closed wanted details will be accessible within My eBid for review within 6 minutes of the wanted finishing.

8) Can I close a wanted early?

If you are the Wanter (the person who created the wanted and wishes to buy) then you will be able to close the wanted before the end of it's lifespan by clicking the link in the options list on the wanted's page. This will set the closing cycle in motion and emails and closed wanted review pages will be ready within 6 minutes.

We recommend you only close the wanted early if you have received enough suitable offers and at a price you are willing to pay.
